Robin Nelson, Chief Executive Officer Robin joined the organization in January 2012 and is responsible for the overall operation, strategizing and direction of the Boys & Girls Club of the Red River Valley and Youth Commission partnership. She collaborates with community partners, schools and donors to provide optimal service to the youth and families we serve. Her personal commitment to our community is to provide today’s youth with the tools to become productive and contributing members of society. Nelson’s commitment to our youth’s futures is evidenced in her history of serving as a three-term elected school board member and as a mayoral appointee to Fargo’s Youth Initiative advisory board, Fargo’s Native American Commission and The Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Addiction coalition. She currently serves as the North Dakota’s Afterschool Alliance United States Ambassador; on the regional Workforce Development Committee addressing affordable childcare; as a Great Plains Food Bank board officer and a Fargo Public Schools Foundation board member; on United Way’s Education Collaborative and as the Fargo Early Childhood Education Coalition Chair. In addition, she has served as a Shriner’s Children’s Hospital Auxiliary fundraiser and a former school district Governmental Affairs chair and elementary school PTA president. Nelson has managed and consulted on countless campaigns at the city and state level and has served as a frequent panelist and consultant in the educational, political and business community.
Julie Otto, Director of Operations
Julie is responsible for internet technology, building and project management, grant writing and reporting in addition to the general operations of the Boys & Girls Club, Youth Commission and Preschool programs. Julie began her career at the Boys & Girls Club 2002 as a Youth Development Professional and was quickly promoted to a Program Coordinator position. In August 2007 she served as the Interim Chief Executive Officer before transitioning into the role of Director of Operations. She is a current member of the ND Early Childhood Advisory Board and serves on the Early Childhood Education Council of Fargo. Julie graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with Mathematics Emphasis from Minnesota State University – Moorhead. Julie has over 18 years of experience in the childcare and non-profit industry.
Trina Nudell, Accountant Trina joined the Boys & Girls Club of the Red River Valley in May 2017 and is responsible for accounting & reporting, financial statement preparation and financial analysis. She studied Accounting and Office Administration at Concordia College and graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 1999. She has over 18 years of accounting experience in both public and private accounting. Her volunteer work includes the Optimist Club, ND National Guard Family Readiness Group, Sunday School and Girl Scouts. She lives in Leonard, ND and enjoys photography, flower gardening, reading, and weekends at the lake with her husband and four children.
Alicia Waldoch, Director of Communications
Alicia began her career with us in 2007 as an Administrative Assistant. She is now responsible for the marketing and communications of the Boys & Girls Club, Youth Commission and Preschool programs. Alicia is a member of the PTA and serves as a Religious Education catechist and committee member. She majored in Business Administration and Marketing and has nearly 20 years of advertising and marketing experience. Alicia is a resident of Fargo with her husband and daughter.
Elise Pforr, Program Director
Elise started as a Program Coordinator in October 2012 and moved into the position of Program Director in June 2015. She oversees the youth development programs for the Boys & Girls Club and Youth Commission. Elise has a BA in Psychology from MSUM and a Masters in Child Development from NDSU. Her experience began at Prairie St. John’s, Rainbow Bridge and Charism. Elise is the mother of two, enjoys spending time with her family, reading and roller coasters.
Amber Carlsrud (Saljevic), Curriculum Coordinator and Preschool Teacher Amber is our Curriculum Coordinator and Preschool Teacher. She is responsible for the development and implementation of curriculum that enhances social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of youth, while adhering to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America curriculum and standards. Amber has been working with children in various environments since 2001 and joined the Boys & Girls club in November 2013. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, specializing in Pre-primary. She enjoys traveling with her husband, concerts, camping, 4-wheeling and baking.
Amber Cote, Program Coordinator Amber graduated in December 2012 with her B.S. in Child Development and Family Studies with Secondary Education from the University of North Texas. She is responsible for overseeing and managing the Lincoln Elementary youth development program and youth workers. Amber began working with children in 2008 and brings experience in the child care setting, along with in preschool, school age and high school. Her resume includes substitute teaching at West Fargo High School and Moorhead High School. She grew up in an Air Force family and loves to travel. She is adventurous, enjoys being outside at the lake, but looks forward to Vikings and Seahawks football every Sunday!
Becky Schauer, Program Coordinator Becky began her career with the Boys & Girls Club as a Program Coordinator in October 2016. She is responsible for the before and after school program, and staff, at Ed Clapp Elementary. A graduate of Mayville State University, she received a minor in Early Childhood and B.S. in Elementary Education. Becky has lifelong experience working with preschool and elementary age children, as well as a substitute teacher and coordinator. A resident of the FM area, she enjoys gardening, reading, rollerblading, music and spending time with her husband, son and daughter.
Kasey Maier, Program Coordinator Kasey returns to the Boys & Girls Club of the Red River Valley from South High as a Para Professional. She is responsible for overseeing and managing the Lewis & Clark Elementary youth development program and youth workers. She started working at the Youth Commission as a Youth Development Professional in 2008, was promoted to Supervisor, became a Preschool Teacher and then Program Coordinator. Kasey graduated from MSUM in December of 2009 with her B.S Degree in Physical Education. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, staying active and traveling.
Kass Milne, Program Coordinator Kass Milne began his career at the Boys & Girls Club of the Red River Valley in 2014 as a Youth Development Professional. He quickly excelled into Assistant Supervisor and Supervisor positions and, in August 2017, he became a Program Coordinator. As a Program Coordinator, he will oversee the Youth Commission’s before and after school program at Lincoln Elementary. Milne, originally from eastern Montana, attended the University of North Dakota. This fall he is also expected to receive his Early Childhood Directors Credential. Kass’ passion is to empower and support young people as they grow and develop the necessary skills to succeed in life.
Melissa Sweeney, Program Coordinator Melissa began working for the Boys & Girls Club in November 2014 as a Program Coordinator. She oversees the Boys & Girls Club and Youth Commission youth development programs at numerous elementary school locations as well as the Moorhead Youth Center. Melissa graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development and Family Science with a minor in Psychology. Her experience working with children began 10 years ago as an Early Childhood Specialist at SENDCAA Head Start. Melissa enjoys spending time at the lake with her husband and two very active boys.
Tara Holen, Program Coordinator Tara is responsible for coordination, management and staffing of Youth Commission programs at numerous locations. Tara received her Child Development Associate Credential and began working in the industry in 1999. Her background includes working at a licensed daycare, Early Head Start and a Special Ed Para in West Fargo. She began working as a Program Coordinator at the Boys & Girls Club in August 2014. Tara enjoys spending time with her husband and sons, being at the lake, watching football and reading.
Craig Krabbenhoft, Facilities and Transportation Coordinator
Craig is responsible for transportation and facilities maintenance at the Fargo Youth Center, Moorhead Youth Center and the Youth Center at Rose Creek. He oversees equipment, supplies and maintains our transportation fleet, along with providing bus driver safety and training. Craig joined the Boys & Girls Club in June 2009 and has been the Facility & Transportation Coordinator for the past six years. Craig graduated as an Auto Mechanic with a degree from Moorhead Technical College.
Sarah Ishaug, Schedule and Registration Coordinator Sarah graduated from NDSU in 2013 with her Bachelor's degree in Art and Minor in Women's Studies. She began working at the Boys & Girls Club in 2011 as a Youth Development Professional. Sarah is responsible for overseeing schedules and registration for the Boys & Girls Club, Preschool and Youth Commission youth development programs. In her spare time she enjoys being outside, camping, spending time with family and friends and painting.
Lucas Ness-Allen, Billing Specialist Lucas began working at the Boys & Girls Club as a Youth Development Professional, advancing into the position of Scheduling and Registration Coordinator. He majored in business at Minnesota State Community and Technical College and psychology at NDSU. Lucas assists multiple departments to include the scheduling and administrative teams. His primary responsibilities include assisting the finance division with account statements, balances, billing, payments and child care assistance. Lucas enjoys playing the guitar, travelling and camping. He also coached the Special Olympics throughout High School and College.
Heather Manske, Administrative Coordinator Heather began her career with the Boys & Girls Club as a Youth Development Professional in Springfield, MO where she was promoted to Membership Coordinator. In May of 2016 she relocated to Fargo and joined our team as an Administrative Coordinator. Her primary responsibilities include assisting with grant financials, payroll, human resources and maintaining office records. Heather is pursuing Interdisciplinary Studies and enjoys spending time with her family and friends, creative writing and reading.
Joe Vesel, Gaming Manager Joe is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all charitable gaming operations. He is responsible for maintaining successful day-to-day gaming compliance, audit and accounting operations for the Pickled Parrot and Slammers Bar and Grill. His responsibilities also include managing production of financial statements, tax and license submissions.
Naomi Orre, Administrative Staff
Naomi provides administrative support at the Fargo Youth Center and Youth Center at Rose Creek. She is also responsible for assisting with youth development programs. Naomi attended Anoka-Ramsey Community College and North Dakota State University majoring in Business Management and Economic Development. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, photography and meteorology.
