The Boys & Girls Club of the Red River Valley
In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship on the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.

The Boys & Girls Club of the Red River Valley will help our youth develop the attitudes, skills, values and behaviors to succeed in life. Youth Development Strategies, based on basic principles, are designed to build self-esteem and allow children to grow into responsible and caring adults. These strategies are tools that will allow our youth to become responsible citizens and leaders, who are able to live successful lives.

The Boys & Girls Club of the Red River Valley has various programs for youth who have a variety of interests and needs. The programs engage young people in diverse activities such as Character & Leadership Development, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, The Arts and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.

Who We Are
The Youth Commission, the area's leader in providing before and after school childcare programs, is expanding their services by offering youth programs as a chartered member of the Boys & Girls Club of America.

As a chartered member the Boys & Girls Club of the Red River Valley will provide tested, proven and nationally recognized programs and services in the areas of: Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, Health and Life Skills, The Arts and Sports/Fitness/Recreation.

The initial phase of the Boys & Girls Club programming will begin with programs for youth during after school and evening hours. Programs will be offered at the Youth Commission's Youth Center facilities in Fargo and Moorhead.

These programs will provide youth of the area:
  • A safe place to learn and grow
  • Ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals
  • Life-enhancing programs and character development experiences
  • Hope and opportunity
The Boys & Girls Club of the Red River Valley's ultimate goal is to secure a location and funding for a facility dedicated solely to Boys & Girls Club programming for youth of all ages. Fundraising and initial site selection, focused on central and north Fargo, is underway with the goal of making a new Boys & Girls Club facility a reality.

The structure and delivery of the Youth Commission's current before and after school childcare programs will not change. However, by being a charter member of the Boys & Girls Club of America. The Youth Commission staff will have access to valuable tools for inspiring and enabling young people to realize their full potential.

These additional programs and services will have a positive impact on the lives of many children and families in our community. By expanding services, the Youth Commission continues their mission to provide programs and services to improve the lives of school age children and their families.
