Youth Commission

Youth Development Programs are offered before school, after school, on school out days and during the summer at several elementary schools and youth center facilities from 6:45am to 6pm. All youth centers are equipped with a game room, gymnasium, lunch room, secured entrance and traverse wall.

School Year Program: Before and After School

In cooperation with local school districts, the Youth Commission offers convenient, before and after school programming at neighborhood elementary schools, as well as youth center facilities. School sites fill quickly, as such all locations may not be available.


  • Bennett, Centennial, Eagles, Ed Clapp, Fargo Youth Center, Hawthorne, Kennedy, Lewis & Clark, Lincoln, Longfellow, Washington and the Youth Center at Rose Creek.
  • If a school site is full, youth will be bussed to a youth center if space is available.  


  • Morning (6:45am until school starts): $6
  • Afternoon (after school until 4:30pm): $10.75
  • Afternoon (after school until 6pm): $13.50
  • Unscheduled services: $35

All Day Program: School Out Days

All Day Programming is available when school is out. On these days, specified youth center locations are open from 6:45am to 6pm. Children will receive a healthy breakfast and afternoon snack, however, each student is expected to bring a healthy sack lunch. The All-Day Program is available on a first come, first serve basis.

Summer Program

Full-time and part-time contracts are available to youth age 5 to 12 years old. Programs take place at various elementary schools and youth centers. Each location offers an active, enjoyable agenda of open swimming, curriculum based activities, games, field trips and park district activities such as baseball, golf and tennis. All summer site locations are open from 6:45am to 6pm. Summer sites fill quickly, as such all locations may not be available. 


  • Full-time: $145 per child, per week (the equivalent of $29 per day; includes 5 vacation days and 3 sick days)
  • Summer school: $78 per child, per week
  • Part-time: $31 per child, per day (minimum of two days per week; includes 3 sick days)
  • Drop-in: $33 per child, per day
